Learn to Skate

About Learn to Skate

Welcome to the first step of the Southwest Ice Arena Ice Sports group program progression. Each Learn to Skate level is designed to teach a specific set of skills geared toward basic movement, coordination and balance on the ice. It is important that the level progression is followed and for skaters to demonstrate skills efficiently to staff before advancing. Instructors will evaluate students and give progress reports to skaters at the end of each season.

Learn to Skate is the first program a skater should enroll in and will prepare you to continue on into hockey, ice skating or recreational skating. Below are a list of Learn to Skate levels:

Staff Professionals
Our qualified and experienced instructors are members of the United States Figure Skating (USFS), the Professionals Skaters Association (PSA), Basic Skills (USFS), or a combination thereof.

Testing
Students who are ready will be tested during class time at the conclusion of each session. Upon passing, they will receive a badge and a advancement form for the next level.
