The Southwest Skating Academy youth learn to play hockey programs are designed around the guidelines of USA Hockey’s ADM model, which creates a fun, relaxed learning environment for participants to learn the fundamental skills of skating for ice hockey. The non-competitive and positive atmosphere not only makes a child’s first experience with skating positive, but also creates an environment in which they can excel. Participants will learn the skills for the game of ice hockey, and will also develop self-esteem and self-confidence. The program operates under the premise that if a player's introduction to the sport is positive, they will develop a lifetime love of the game.
Pre-HOCKEY 1-2 [AGES 4-12]

These classes are designed to give the inexperienced skater a solid foundation for developing their skating abilities and to prepare them for ice hockey and team play. Proper skating techniques are the primary focus of these levels. Skaters will learn the necessary fundamentals to be successful in game situations.
